The Mansea Beach Hotel had windows looking into the showers, curtains hanging off the rail, dirty bedding, filthy shower. This is definitley the place to stay if you want to come home with verruccas. Most staff were friendly though many were over friendly. Lying by the pool I witnessed many old men with very young Gambian girls. Not the place to stay if you are single females and would never take my children. Gambia would have been a great place if this hotel had not been so bad.

The staff at the Mansea Beach hotel were great - it's just the management had no control over the disco. Seemed anybody could just walk in and turn it on! The African nights with drumming were great but otherwise it was almost 24 hours disco music constantly blasting out round the pool. There was no escape other than to walk down the road to the nearby and much quieter Senagambia Hotel. If you are looking for a quiet afternoon relaxing by the pool then give this hotel a miss. Cosmos in their brochure describe it as on the beach! Well it is sandy outside the gate but then it is another 5 to 10 mins walk with trying to ignore the many bumsters.

My husband and I have been to Mansea Beach Hotel twice, Nov 2005, and Xmas 2006. I find staff helpful, respectful and friendly, (we are still in touch) as 2* hotel, we don't expect 4* services, but we got it. Rooms are basic (we were in Africa) food was always good, "mansea the cat" was always friendly. The guards where good at their job, keeping us safe. Going for Xmas for me was a problem, yes I agree disco and karaoke does not sit well with this hotel, nor towels on sunbeds 6.00am, with no offence to anyone, the holiday many people there thought was better suited to Benidorm, not Africa, especially THE GAMBIA.

Loved Gambia
I miss Gambia every day, I feel home sick without a daily picture. Text to friend my home is Gambian colours, have carvings and pictures our friend paints for us. Given a chance I would leave this heartless, uncaring England and go to the people that, although they have nothing, would give you their last. They are the most amazing people in the world. Caring, non judgemental. They need people to care. Big problems in Africa, always to the front, anyone care about Gambia?
