San Marina Hotel, Kavos
A great choice for a seaside holiday, the San Marina Hotel opens onto the long beachfront that has a beach bar and a variety of watersports. The hotel has a large outdoor swimming pool with sunbeds, parasols and a poolside snack bar and is located only 150 metres from the shops, restaurants and nightclubs. Roomsmore

Food at the San Marina Hotel is terrible. Personnel is good, if you are Slovakian, but if you are Hungarian... On the cocktail bar which is near the see the barmen are tidy, and the hotel garden is nice. The room is terrible. The tap water sometimes is flowing, sometimes isn't flowing. Generally isn't flowing. The hotel isn't 3 star, just a terrible motel. Magyarok kerüljétek el a hotelt, nagy arra a ... . A 15 éves múltukkal elég lenézően néznek ránk.

We booked this trip last minute without looking up the resort or the accommodation. If we had we may have been put off, however on arrival it was better than expected. The coach transfer from the airport is not the greatest and if you are not a good passenger like myself, the 2 hour transfer to Kavos is a bit sickly with all the windy roads. Once we got to Kavos we were impressed on the central location of the hotel but also that it was set back from the loudness of the clubs. The hotel is right on the beach and is a perfect location. Air con is €5 a day and a fridge is €3. I would recommend you get a safe at €5 a week. The hotel itself was ok and the reception staff were fabulous although we were not impressed by the food and the cleaners. The Greeks all seem to smoke heavilly including the cleaners and we often found that our sheets and towels smelt of smoke. Breakfast consists of cold toast and not very nice cereal and dinner reminded me of being back in the school lunch queue. However eating out is cheap enough anyway and TKD's, Desperdao's and the Jolly Chef are great and Eve's Garden is the best place for a breakfast at €2.40 for jumbo breakfast.

The location of the San Marina Hotel is absolutely perfect, right on the beach and just down the road from the main strip. The pool is only a short distance away and I can definitely recommend the food from the poolside bar- the lady is really friendly too! Rooms were cleaned daily and although very basic, the bed was comfy. Only downside would have to be the food. Although some dishes were alright in the evening, I have to say some of it was gross. We ended up eating out every night instead which was a shame but I suppose it depends on peoples tastes! I wouldn't be able to comment on the breakfast as I was never up in time! The night porter comes across as quite scary at first but once you get to know him, he's alright! Just don't bring anyone back to the hotel and you'll be fine. But overall, it was the ideal place to stay, and I would go again - if self catering was available!

I went to the San Marina hotel in July and had a fantastic holiday, the staff in the hotel are really freindly. The food in the hotel was ok, very basic breakfast - dinner was a little better.Ii went for a week and to me it was not long enough. The nightlife was good but it did shock me that all the bars shut and the music goews off at 1.am in the morning with only a few clubs open untill 4.am. The beach was nice but u do get the melon man and the donut man constantly pestering you to buy stuff, say hello to flower the music man who sells the cd's on the beach for me if you go. Excellant water park u must try it . The wave pool is the best i have ever seen outside of Disney in America. Tour Operator: Thomson
