First impressions of the Abacus Green Hotel were hazy- it was 7am Turkish time which is 9am English time and we hadn't slept for 12 hours due to travelling. The staff on arrival however did seem to speak good English, and just as it says on most of the reviews, you will be expected to part with 30 Lira and your return tickets on check-in. 30 lira is the room deposit which seems somewhat unnecessary (it says on an information leaflet inside this is 'so people use things' so get your money's worth and use the air conditioning!! The air conditioning in the rooms is beautiful by the way. So we got up to the room which is a big standard double bed and a single bed, both made well and very clean- the maid service was excellent. Our room had air conditioning, a balcony with pool view, 2 chairs and a table, a hairdryer, wardrobe and dressing table, but didn’t have a fridge which meant that without the air conditioning on bottled water went warm quickly in temperatures of up to 40 degrees. The showers are nice, there isn’t hot water at some times of the day due to solar powering, but we found that after 5pm there was usually hot water, which is just about the right time when you’re finished sunbathing and are waiting for your evening meal. The rooms were decorated blue and yellow, absolutely fine and haven't got any complaints about the rooms. The food in the hotel is absolutely dismal. We found ourselves eating out a lot, but this does get quite expensive so we did just grin and bear it and eat the hotel food sometimes. Breakfast was probably the best meal of the day, they had cereal, eggs, toast, beans and tomatoes but the eggs were unpeelable, the toast burnt going through the machine, the beans were sparse white balls in red sauce… Lunch was pasta and salad mainly, the pasta was chewy though and the pasta sauces not too nice. Dinners were boiled so much that all the nutrients had gone- boiled soggy cabbage and cauliflower, boiled and congealed rice, soggy meats- the plus point however was the salad which no one really ate while we were there so we got first picks of what was fresh and crunchy salad. They do however have massive cakes for pudding which are gorgeous! Food is only served at certain times of the day, breakfast 7.30 -10am, lunch 12pm- 2.30pm, and dinner 7.30 til 9pm. The free bar opens at 10am and closes at 11pm, however the alcohol isn’t too nice and is a bit watery. The soft drinks are acceptable, but you will have to pay extra for imported alcohol. The pool and entertainment are alright, the pool was always clean and is of a fair size, however its all one depth all the way through which wasn’t a problem for us but means that children need constant supervision as there is never a lifeguard on duty. There is a smaller size square pool which is probably 1 foot in depth next to the pool and separated by bars, which I imagine is the children’s pool but adults tend to use it for just dipping their feet in while sunbathing. We usually missed out on night time entertainment as we left and went into town at night time, but when we were back early we caught the end of the bingo and general knowledge quiz, and by then people were drunk and having a good time so no complaints there.

Green Abacus formerly Sarba 6
Nice hotel, very clean, most of the staff were very friendly others were just very ignorant. Would not go back to Green Abacus because the food was ok but we found that it was repeated a lot. The entertainment was not brill, the the staff did the best with what they had, nice walk to beach about half an hour although the bus does run very frequently. Nice area. We personally think the hotel would be better as a b&b and not all inclusive we also found that when we got there we had to pay for snacks such as ice cream and crisps when we asked the rep why this was, she told us its because the hotel is a soft all inclusive so for us value for money it was not. I stayed in the Green Abacus hotel in June and booked back up again this year can't wait to go back. The staff are really nice and take care of you. The food was also nice - I agree most of it was repeated from time to time but then thats down to the people that complain about the food that the didnt like. I really enjoyed my stay at the Green Abacus and had a good laugh with the staff. Its situated in a nice place for people who have children as you dont have the thumping music all night long but I really do recommend going there.

Good value but not luxurious!
Having read terrible reviews on Club Sarba 6 in Marmaris I was a little worried about our holiday but it turned out to be fabulous. Ok, the hotel is fairly basic, but the rooms are clean and the staff are friendly despite having to deal with some fairly rude guests (all from the UK I'm ashamed to say). Food was fine, though again quite basic. Note that you have to pay extra for air conditioning. Swimming pool was nice and clean and had slides etc for children. Not enough sunbeds though. Club Sarba is about 1 mile from the beach and 15 minutes outside the town centre, club and bars of Marmaris by Dolmus (the local Turkish minibuses which are cheap and regular). Also plenty of bars and restaurants nearer to the hotel. Hotel also had lots of entertainment - music, belly dancers, turkish nights etc. Club Sarba was good value for money but far from luxurious! If you're after a cheap holiday its a good option. Tour Operator: Gold Trail
