Anyone confused about which African destination to pick would be wise to choose a holiday in Tanzania, a country offering a diversity of thrilling attractions from the continent’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, to the exotic offshore spice island of Zanzibar. When it comes to big game Tanzania can boast the best with its vast Serengeti Nationalmore

Tanzania Adventure Safaris - Karen Wong and Neil McLean. Date of travel: Jul 2008
Our Guide Edward is a very good driver, knowledgeable about the animals and gave us the opportunity to see and photograph all the animals. He is very professional and has a good sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the parks each one has very different, but I would recommend a shorter game drive in Ngorongoro crater and long time in Serengeti instead to see the Elephants. The hot air balloon ride in Serengeti in Tanzania was an experience of a lifetime, we would highly recommend balloon safaris and African Home Adventure Safaris. Nickson organized a great itinerary we appreciated his flexibility in accommodation our schedule at a very short notice. We had an incredible time with African Home Adventure Safaris!!! Thank You.

Climbing Kilimanjaro - Harry S. Date of travel: Oct 2007
A great trip, not for the faint hearted. We did a 7 day climb, the Limosho route. We went with Wonderful World tour operators. The three of us went with 20 porters carrying tents, cooking equipment, food, water etc. The altitude is quite challenging, some people had headaches from 4,000m upwards. Reached the summit at 4pm after a 10 hour climb. Very harsh environment, rather beautiful and great to see the glacier.

Honeymoon to Tanzania - Hannelore Millan. Date of travel: Sep 2006
We have just returned from a wonderful honeymoon to Tanzania. We asked Tanzania Adventure to arrange a tour to for us and they set up a gorgeous trip. Our guide was kind and friendly and never tired to assist us with our thousand needs and questions and tracking our favorite animals. We were very lucky to see the 'big 5' and even some lion hunting. We stayed at Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara at Lodges which were all good with friendly attenting staff and good service. Tanzania Adventure run their own tented camp at Serengeti which is just magic. We were pampered by the staff members and enjoyed being out in the African Bush close to absolute wilderness. We did not want to leave to Zanzibar to finish our honeymoon with a great stay at Stonetown and the beach. For Zanzibar Tanzania Adventure have chosen the Zanzibar Coffeehouse and the Sultans Palace both beautiful, stunning and atmospheric hideaways just perfect for romantic holidays. We are very thankful towards Tanzania Adventure for arranging the trip of a lifetime for us. Hannelore Millan

Great Tanganyika!! - Karin Scott. Date of travel: Jul 2006
I recently took a 4 day safari with the Kuja Safaris team in the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. I had a fantastic time - feeling the perfect balance between relaxation and exhilaration.
From the moment I landed in Nairobi everything worked like clockwork. From the airport I was whisked away to enjoy breakfast in the city before loading up on supplies and heading to Arusha and the game parks. I camped two nights (highly recommended) and stayed another night in a lodge. All of the meals were taken care of and were excellent. And importantly, we saw 4 of the Big 5!
Everything worked out as perfectly as we had been promised. George was as good a guide as one could want. We all really appreciated the effort the entire team including the cook Elias put in.

Tanzania Adventure - James + Amanda. Date of travel: Jun 2006
We have recently returned from Tanzania where we did a week on Safari and a week in Zanzibar for our Honeymoon as organised by Tanzania Adventure.
The company were very easy to deal with whilst making the arrangments and booking the holiday and evreything went as it was planned.
Our guide on safari was excellent and along with a bit of luck ensured we seen an unbelievable number of animals including all 5 of 'the big 5'. We visited Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti over 7 days and were amazed at the amount of animals we seen and how close they were to the vehicles.
We then went to Zanzibar to the Ocean Paradise hotel for a couple of day's relaxation on the beach, followed by a Spice tour and City Tour of Stone Town and a few nights in the Tembo Hotel in Stonetown.
Everything went as planned and the people we dealt with from Tanzania Adventure were all focussed on ensuring we had a great time, which we did!

Use a reputable tour operator - Eugene Wang. Date of travel: Sep 2005
My wife and went on holiday to Tanzania for our honeymoon in September 2005 but it was almost ruined by our useless tour operator. We climbed Kili, did a safari, and then went to Zanzibar over the course of two weeks. For the most part, the safari was quite nice, except that they did not book us in the luxury camping that we had requested. Instead, they booked us in a "camping" safari, which is really camping in tents -- this is very different from a "luxury camping" safari in both product and price. Our tour operator did manage to book us in a nice lodge (Ngorogoro Farm House), for one evening. The other evenings we stayed for two nights in a basic lodge and one night in a run-down tented camp. The saving grace of the safari was our guide, Peter Moshi. He was friendly and very knoweledgable. He was formerly with Abercrombie and Kent, a very reputable firm. We saw many anmials; however, unfortunately, we were unable to find any cheetahs or leopards. One other guide we talked to was shocked that we didn't see any cheetahs; he said they were all over the place. Before the Kili trip we stayed at the New Arusha Hotel. During our conversation with our guide we expressed concern about climbing Kili in the short time we allowed (4 days up; one day down). He kept telling us that it would be no problem -- "hakuna matata." My wife didn't make it up because she was unable to acclimatise in such a short period. I would suggest you budget 5 days up and 1 day down, for a total of 6 days. Well, we proceeded to climb Kili the next day. Our guide was TERRIBLE. He consistently walked 50 yards ahead of us and was unhelpful when my wife got into trouble, we had to contact the rangers ourselves to help get my wife back down. Tanzania is a wonderful country! Despite the poor service from our tour operator, it was one of my most memorable vacations! If I do it again, I will definitely find a more reputable company to arrange my travels. I hope this is helpful. Tour Operator: Tanzania Adventure

I arranged a holiday to climb Mount Kilimanjaro through Footloose travel and I can honestly say I had the best time of my life ever. The travel arrangements and accomodation were fantastic and the care that was given to me and my companion by the guides was fantastic. I can recommend it to anyone. Don't underestimate the effects of altitude as my companion became very ill and had to turn back and also one thing that was not stressed at all is the tipping that the porters and guides require. They are paid a very low wage to risk their lives, make sure you reward them adequateley. Tour Operator: Footloose travel

Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are not to be missed, but the safari touts are very aggressive and booking a trip can be exhausting. Make sure you bargain hard and don't just believe the first safari company you go to. Also try to get up to date recommendations from other travellers about safaris before booking one yourself. Despite the expense the national parks are really worth it.
