A bit of time in Baton Rouge. The capital lacks the glory of its companion city New Orleans that lives down the Mississippi a few miles. But I like it anyway. It has a pumping music scene and a college town feel. The center has an old battleship and museum to explore. Old plantations and crocodile tours are on the outskirts. The small towns a few minutes drive from the city are my favorite. That is where the culture of the south lives. Beer drinking, crawfish eating, porch sitting, bible reading, southern drawl talking about how New Orleans ain't what it used to be...yeah I dig the south. A lot of racism to be aware of. Put me off strong at first but I came to see it differently. Not support it but i gained an understanding where it comes from. And dispite the different races prejudice towards each other, they showed a lot of love towards individuals.
