ALBUFEIRA HOLIDAY REVIEWS

I love Albufeira - Diane King. Date of travel: Oct 2007
The good points are the different places to eat and the gorgeous beaches you find in Portugal.

The main town was great with lots of bars and restaurants, a very lively place.

Albufeira has something for everyone, the Strip is great for those after a good night out, but also has some lovely restaurants, but if you're after a more laid back night out then the Old Town is the better option. The Atlantic is very refreshing, but not suitable for small children unless they are extremely strong swimmers, many grown men were knocked off their feet by the power of the waves. Beaches are plenty and sandy.

Praia da Oura - liz skene. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Praia da Oura is on the outskirts of Albufeira within walking distance to the strip and a nice walk or short taxi ride from the old town. It's near enough to be lively and far enough away to be quiet. The strip itself it loud, noisy and tacky. My son and fiancee have been on several occasions and agree so it's not just a generation thing. But if you want a lively holiday this is the place for you. We prefer to go for a quiet meal and a drink at night and there are lots of places in the old town and there is Neto's just up the road from the Clube Praia Da Oura next to the Oura hotel. They serve the best sea bass and golden bream and monk fish I have ever tasted. Funny I wouldn't thank you for fish at home but cant get enough in the Algarve. It's a nice little family run restaurant and the staff are great. As for shopping you would be better going into the old town (taxi €5-€8) as it's a little more traditional than the souvinier shops up the strip. The ticket touts for the timeshare are a bit of a nuisance but if you're firm and say 'not interested' they leave you alone. I'm in the process of arranging our fourth visit for this September and instead of the usual week we're considering ten days. We have been in the months of March, April and September and have never been disappointed with the weather. A bit overcast at times but still warm. In the three times I have visited we have only had rain twice and once was just a sunny shower. Can't wait to go back... so if you're thinking of going - do it! You won't be sorry...

Wonderful place - Rebecca Portwood. Date of travel: Apr 2006
We first went to Alburfeira in March 2003 for our honeymoon: what a wonderful place it was. Loads to do. We took children too then ages 1 & 4 they loved it too. The beaches where great and lots to do for all the family. My parents also came (to act as the occasional baby sitter after all we were on honeymoon). My dad is disabled in a wheelchair and they couldn't help us enough. We stayed at the Janelas Do Mar: was a great place. Couldn't beleive it was only rated a 2 star, should be a 3 star. So we went back this year and were still very pleased: so much so that next year we are driving over for about 3 to 4 weeks and looking to purchase land over there to build property and eventually live. Places to go we would recommend is Zoo Marine in Guia: great for the children of all ages and the adults too. Thats where I swam with the dolphins: what an experience. Also Crazy World: can't remember where it was but any hotel or tour rep should know. And the last thing is go on a jeep safari especially for the adults and ok for children I would say over the age of 10, but not for the faint hearted: lots of narrow winding roads only as wide as your jeep. But be careful: lots of other companies seeling jeep safari's but the best one is PORTITOURS. Hope you have as much fun as we have. I'm sure you will. Tour Operator: First Choice

The beach in Albufeira (portugal) is the most beautiful I have seen in Europe. It has lots of alcoves and caves to explore and the sand is golden. It was deserted when we went as it was low season. The night life in the holiday resport was poor, as said because it was low season so most of The Strip was closed especially at night. There were at best, 3 or 4 restaurants open and only 2 or 3 bars which were dead. There were also 2 resaurants open on the beach front. The public transport was APPALLING. Don't bother waiting for a bus. It was 20 euros in taxi to the next resort of Villamora. Our rep didn't seem to know the area (or care); in the welcome meeting he kept banging on about how good this bar or that bar was when they weren't even open!!! Overall, the Albufeira holiday was difficult to rate fairly as we went in low season and I am sure things would be far different and much better in summer.

The Albufeira old town - in argarve, portugal - is charming and full of local culture, always good entertainment found in the square. Beautiful well maintained cobbled streets. Exellent beaches for all ages and you can walk on the waters edge for miles. The best part is the Portuguese people in the shops and bars they are so polite and respectful no pressured sales or pushy staff. Will go back for another holiday in Albufeira but only to the old town not the new part that I am afraid held no magic for us and is like any other busy over commercialised holiday resort the same the world over.

We have JUST returned from what can only be described as the best holiday we have ever been on!!! Our holiday in Albufeira was amazing from the food to the water sports. We have to mention Angelus bar which gave us lots of entertainment and laughs also Tom who does the karaoke whats the secret ingredient of the white sangria? The walks along the beach and some rocks to the little secluded bays were perfect as was the cruise to the grottos. I have to say that all the food was superb but if I have to reccommend 1 it would have to be The Three Palms (in Portuguese). I will end by saying I cannot do the resort justice so just GO there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tour Operator: sunweb

Never been in a place like Albufeira - Jaime Ribeiro. Date of travel: Aug 2003
Albufeira is one amazing vacation spot. It has beautiful beaches for you to enjoy your summer during the day. And the nightlife is just...unbelievable. You have so many choices, but also the opportunity to try them all... It's definitely the best place ever in my opinion.
